Triphala is an Ayurvedic herbal medicine in India used in the ancient day for different health conditions. Triphala translated into three different kinds of fruits in Sanskrit. Amalaki, Bibhitaka, and Haritaki are the three super fruits that have anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidising properties.

Bibhitaka

The presence of phytochemicals such as polyphenols and terpenes, among others, make this fruit a powerhouse capable of delivering other health benefits.

Types of  Triphala

It can be available in three different types which are:

  • Triphala Powder
  • Triphala Tablets
  • Triphala liquid extract

Triphala Powder

The traditional way to consume Triphala is tea. This method allows the herb to tastefully, and it is considered an essential part of the Ayurvedic healing process.

Taste starts the digestive process and initiates your body’s internal pharmacy in advance, sending signals to the body what to expect.

To make Triphala tea, make a decoration by mixing half teaspoons of Triphala powder and a cup of warm water and mix well until it cool and drink.

Side Effects of Triphala:

  • The recommended dose of Triple Powder is 1/2 teaspoon daily. Add hot water to make tea. The powder may have a bitter taste, so try adding it to a smoothie, juice, or tea.
  • The recommended daily dose is usually safe for adults, but side effects may occur. These include feces, indigestion, and loose stools. Triphala acts as a natural laxative and can cause diarrhea, stomach discomfort, and excessive dehydration. Do not exceed the recommended dose.
  • Do not take Triphala Supplements if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. If you are using blood thinners, you avoid taking this supplement. Also, triplets may not be safe for people with bleeding. Currants from India, one of the three medicinal properties, increase the risk of bleeding and bruising.
  • Before taking the supplement, talk to your doctor to see which supplement is right for you. They will help you determine the correct amount.
